FAQ

WinOLS

What can I do with an OLS file?

An OLS file already contains the original .bin file combined with the corresponding mappack.

You can open it directly using a properly licensed version of WinOLS.

With an OLS file you can:

  • View all mapped data in structured form
  • Analyze maps, axes and damos information
  • Modify calibration data
  • Export the modified file as a new .bin file

The OLS file is ready to work with — no additional import steps are required.

What can I do with the HiLow / LowHi Mappack files?

HiLow and LowHi files are standalone mappacks and must be imported into your WinOLS project manually.

How to use them:

  1. Import your original .bin file into WinOLS.
  2. Check the file format in the WinOLS menu bar (HiLow or LowHi).
  3. Drag & drop the matching mappack file into your WinOLS project.
  4. The maps will now be assigned automatically.

Make sure you select the correct format (HiLow or LowHi), otherwise the maps will not align correctly.

How do I handle a KP file in WinOLS?

How to handle:

  1. Open WinOLS and import the provided .bin file
  2. drag and drop the .kp file to the new project
  3. All maps and structures become accessible exactly as they were saved.
  4. Save your project

Important notes

  • A KP file is not a flash file. You cannot directly program it to an ECU.
  • To flash a vehicle, you must export a modified .bin file first.
  • Always verify checksums before flashing.
  • The KP file does not replace your WinOLS license.
  • You still need a properly licensed WinOLS installation to work with it.
  • Certain plugins (e.g. checksum plugins) must be installed on your system if the project requires them.

Do I need a licensed WinOLS version?

Are the files vehicle specific?

Yes. All mappacks and projects are designed for specific ECU hardware and software versions.

Before purchasing, please verify:

  • ECU type
  • Hardware number
  • Software number
  • File size

We always provide an .bin file and a matching mappack to it.

Then you can transfer the maps with the "Window coupling" function to your readout.

We are not responsible for incompatibility caused by incorrect file selection.

Can I flash an OLS or KP file directly to the ECU?

No.

OLS and KP files are project files for WinOLS and cannot be flashed directly.

To program an ECU, you must:

  1. Export the modified file as a .bin file
  2. Verify the checksum
  3. Flash the file using your preferred flasher tool

Are checksum corrections included?

Map definitions are included.

Checksum correction depends on your WinOLS plugin setup.

You must have the correct checksum plugin installed for your ECU type.

Most flashers do the checksum correction before flashing a file.

We recommend always verifying checksums before flashing.

Do you provide technical support?

We provide basic support regarding file structure and compatibility.

We do not provide:

  • Tuning advice
  • Custom calibration support
  • Remote tuning assistance

Our products are intended for professional users.

How long can I access my downloads?

Please store your files securely after download.

We recommend creating a backup.
